Camilo Monsalve Ossa, born in Medellín Colombia, is a cinematographer of movies, short films, documentaries, music videos and commercials.
Camilo studied graphic design at Pontificia Bolivariana university in which he developed multiple tools to get a deeper understanding of the image, visual and esthetic structure. He worked several years in postproduction, and finally majored in cinematography.
Hinged to his passion for movies, he develop his work in a world of light permeated by shadows, from where he translate his vision for the reality that surrounds him.
Camilo started his career as a cinematographer back in Colombia. His portfolio includes filmography for movies such as GROOVE (directed by McDonough), PASOS DE HÉROE (directed by Henry Rincón), TALENTO MILLONARIO (directed by Edison Vanegas), second unit in the Spanish movie ORBITA 9 (directed by Hatem Khraiche), and second unit in the American movie CITY OF DEAD MEN (directed by Kirk Sullivan). He also mastered the art of shortfilms, with projects like “PROJECT FYDIKA”, “LETTER”, “ EL SACO” (winner of the FDC 2010), “ CAMINO A VICTORIA” (selection in FICCI 2015 Festival Internacional de Cine de Cartagena), “JOE” (official selection Gasparilla International Film Festival, Tampa Florida) and the documentary “EN EL FONDO, LA MEMORIA” (winner of the scholarships for the creation in Medellín). And beyond this realm he is also the cinematographer of multiple music videos, some of them includes Latin Grammy winners: J balvin, Nicky Jam and Fonseca in 2015.
